Folic Acid 400µg 90 Tablets

£3.99

The Government’s Chief Medical Officers in the UK advise that all women planning a pregnancy should take a 400μg folic acid supplement daily from the start of trying to conceive until the 12th week of pregnancy. Folic acid is important during pregnancy because levels fall in the mother due to increased red blood cell production in the early stages of pregnancy. In addition, some birth defects like neural tube defects (e.g. spina bifida) are less likely to develop when folic acid is supplemented in the mother’s diet.

Benefits:

• Helps prevent neural tube birth defects

• May help relieve hot flushes during the menopause

• Contributes to normal fertility in men and women

• May help with memory and mental agility

• May decrease levels of the amino acid homocysteine in theblood

• Elevated levels indicate risk for heart diseases and stroke
